Service ceiling is the maximum altitude an airship can obtain, measured in meters. A high service ceiling can be useful for navigating terrain and outmaneuvering opponents, but is difficult to achieve for ships that are large or heavily armored.

A service ceiling between 0 and 14 meters is reported as dangerously low in the Airship Editor, but ships with such a service ceiling can be constructed and deployed in combat and can be used as hovering landship. A ship with a service ceiling of less than 0 meters is reported to be too heavy to fly in the Airship Editor, and cannot be built or deployed in combat.

A ship's service ceiling is determined by its Lift and its Weight.
